rainbow shark

Rainbow shark have long elongated body with mouth present towards downside.They are also known as ruby shark or red finned shark.They have dark brownish or greenish body with red fins. Some variation in color may be observed. Rainbow shark are bottom dwellers and feed at the bottom. These are hardy in nature and extra care is need in choosing tank mates.

They eat all the food left behind by other fishes. Rainbow shark are territorial and are aggressvie to similar species (sharks) , same species and to smaller fishes. Rainbow shark are very active and require lots of space for swimming.
The aquarium should be very large about 50 gallon with lots of hiding spots. They can live up to 5 years if care is taken properly. The temperature should be about 22 - 26 degree Celsius. The main food of rainbow shark is basically algae, insects mosquito larvae. These can also feed on tubifex worm, pellets, flakes, blood worms, spinach etc. Rainbow shark forms good community tank with fishes or similar or larger sizes. You can put them with plecos, danios , loaches, gourami.

Difference between male and female rainbow shark
Rainbow shark are one of the shark species which you can put in your aquarium. These fishes are beautiful and can form a good community tank with tank mates of similar size. To distinguish between male and female rainbow shark. Look at their shape the female rainbow shark is much thicker then the male while male is slim. Also the male have black thin line on edge of anal fin. However this difference can't be seen in albino rainbow shark. The other distinguishing feature is their color. The male rainbow shark have more bright color as compared to female.
